It was one of missions that was executed by Republic Operatives | Republic OperativesOrganizationTemporary Unions | during the Cold War on Tatooine | TatooinePlanet | .When the operatives passed through Outpost Salara they heard as a burly Twi'lek | Twi'lekSentient Species | angrily and loudly communicated with someone over the comm. They stopped to ask what was going on and he needed a hand. He introduced himself as Mayor Jundo Martik | Jundo Martik(Twi'lek)CharacterMinor Characters (TOR) | and told the operatives that the Twin Suns | Twin SunsOrganizationPlanetary and Sector | pirates planned to take their mine where ninety percent of this town worked. He hired a group of mercenaries to drive off the pirates, but they stopped reporting back a few days ago. He asked the operatives to finish what those mercs couldn't, adding that the town would be in their debt. When the operatives asked if he wanted the mercs rescued, he retorted that they failed to deliver and he don't owe them anything. The operatives agreed to help and Martik told them to go to the mine and drive off the gangsters so they never come back. He added that if there was any ore the gangsters haven't already sold off, he would appreciate it if the operatives could bring it back here for distribution. They drove through the desert and arrived at an area called the Jundland Chasm. A quick recon revealed that the mining complex is under the complete control of the Twin Suns gangsters. Operatives estimated the number of the enemy at about fifty soldiers. Despite being greatly outnumbered, the operatives decided to attack - it was the only option to drive Twin Sun away from the mine.Using stealth generators, they destroyed several scattered groups of enemies that patrolled the outskirts of the mining camp. When the odds became more or less realistic - and when there were no groups left far from the main forces - the operatives began the main assault. Surprise on their side, they were able to significantly thin out the ranks of the enemy before the gangsters began to act in a more organized manner. But Twins Suns had already lost most of their forces, and their determination was incomparable to the resolve of the operatives - soon the surviving gangsters fled the camp. The last bastion of the Twin Suns was inside the massive Baroban warehouse in the center of the camp, where the operatives hoped to find the ore. They stormed the warehouse and eliminated the Twins Suns guards and pistoleers inside, along with several assassin droids | ROGUE-A01 Assassin DroidDroidOld Republic Assassin Droid classes | . In the depths of the warehouse they located several large crates and, opening one of them, they found out that they were full of ore. Just then, a huge Weequay | WeequaySentient Species | appeared behind them, accompanied by several armed women | MercenaryOrganizationCommunities | ."Well, well. Look at the incredible job I've done clearing out those gangsters. Mayor Martik's gonna be mighty generous with his rewards...." - he said -"Course, he'll be very disappointed to hear that you all couldn't resist stealing his ore and selling it on the black market. But at least he'll know I held up my end of the bargain."The operatives quickly guessed that Weeqay was actually the mercenary leader Bull "The Unbreakable" | Bull "The Unbreakable"(Weequay)CharacterMinor Characters (TOR) | , whom they believed was killed by the Twin Suns. And it turned out that he and his mercenaries had been hiding all this time to wait until someone did what they were hired to do, and then, after killing the survivors, he would receive payment from Martik.Voidhound | VoidhoundCharacterMajor Characters | , being less moral than the other members, muttered -"Of all the lazy, rotten, underhanded schemes.... Why didn't I think of that?""Ha! I like you. Too bad I can't have you running around telling people I'm a liar" - answered Bull -"I'm talking about how you came blundering in after I had driven off the Twin Suns, and stole the merchandise I was going to return to Mayor Martik. My boys'll get that wrapped up later. And I'm gonna make sure nobody can contradict that story...""You won't get away with that" - one of the operatives said in disgust."That's assuming you'll be alive...." - retorted Bull -"My boys'll back me up. I was the one who single-handedly cleared the Twin Suns from this mine, right?"At that moment, Bull's speech was drowned out by a loud metallic tread and the grinding of servos. Instantly tensing, he turned around and exclaimed -"What the-? Oh, blast it! Boys! There's another of them Twin Suns droids here! Hurry!"At that moment, a huge Rogue-class battle droid | ROGUE-A01 Battle DroidDroidOld Republic Battle Droid classes | appeared around the corner, accompanied by two assassin droids, and all three opened fire at the same time. Moments later, Bull and all of his mercenaries were dead. The operatives took cover and returned fire. The huge droid, identified by the scanners as ST-97 "Steel" | ST-97 "Steel"(ROGUE-A01 Battle Droid)CharacterDroids | , was sturdy. He fired volley after volley of mini-rockets at the operatives and sent out blasts of flame from his incenerator. It took the operatives several minutes to destroy his escort, and then, concentrating all their fire on ST-97, reduced the droid to a pile of scrap metal. The operatives carefully searched the warehouse looking for more surprises and found nothing - finally, it was over. They loaded the crates into the speeder van and drove back to the outpost. When they saw Matrik, he was saying to someone over the comm how he, using his brilliant eye for talent, enlisted the aid of the Republic to keep Tatooine's jobs on Tatooine. When he saw the operatives were back, he said that he already told the townsfolk that the mine was safe and then asked if it is actually true. The operatives told him that the mercenaries he hired tried to steal the ore and frame them for it.Frustrated, he mumbled that he was not used to dealing with such people, and promised that next time he would seek help directly from the Republic. He thanked the operatives again for what have done, adding that with the mine back in their hands, they should have no trouble making back anything they've lost. |
